LaB.OTANICA was created to honor the medicinal work of our Costa Rican ancestors through modern "plant magic." Our range of skin and hair care products are sourced from clean, conscious, and ethical partners and are botanically designed to nourish and repair your skin.
All of our "potions" are handmade in small batches honoring the moon cycles high vibe energy and intention in California.
Where does the name come from?
Botánica is a Spanish word that means "botany" or "plant store," referring to dispensaries of medicinal herbs, spirituality, and healing . Botánicas are common in many Hispanic American countries and Latino communities around the world.
Growing up, I loved walking into a botanical store to find all types of remedies, energetic and spiritual.
In light of these small yet powerful healing spaces, I combined ‘lab’ with ‘botanica’ to produce LAB.OTANICA, a place where science and plant power can intertwine.
Our tagline is 'plant magic', which highlights our deep faith in the intelligence of Mother Earth and how everything is perfectly designed. We use the hashtag #believeinplantmagic.

LAB.OTANICA leads me back to my roots, my land, and my ancestors. our recipes are inspired by traditional medicine women and are botanically designed to nourish and repair.

Hola! My name is Meleesa, and I have been intuitively creating LAB.OTANICA for as long as I can remember. I was born and raised in Costa Rica amongst medicine women, flora, and fauna. Growing up alongside powerful herbalists and strong women has guided me to seek the peace and power of nature to balance my body and spirit.
After working in the beauty industry for years and learning so many “dirty beauty secrets”, I decided to return to my roots and the healing power of plants. The moment I decided to offer the planet a higher vibrational line of plant-based, cruelty-free, organic products, the stars aligned and LAB.OTANICA was born.
